On February 28, 2023, Al Moutmir successfully hosted the 13th edition of the Al Moutmir Open Innovation Lab via webinar, showcasing the results of the olive demonstration platforms for the 2022-2023 campaign. Over 100 attendees, including esteemed partners from UM6P, INRA, APNI, ICARDA, the Al Moutmir team and farmers, participated in the event.
Despite facing challenging climatic conditions, the demonstration platforms yielded promising results. They exhibited an average national yield increase of nearly 15%, with a noteworthy record of 17 t/ha in an intensive system. This contrasts with the control plots, which recorded a national average yield of over 3.4 t/ha.
Furthermore, the integrated production program implemented in the demonstration platforms led to an average improvement of over 22% in profit margins, varying from 14% to 32% across different production areas. Additionally, water productivity in the demonstration platforms, particularly in drip irrigation systems, significantly surpassed that of gravity irrigation, underscoring the efficiency of the practices adopted.
