Knowledge is only worthwhile through sharing

In order to make scientific knowledge and best agricultural practices available to all farmers, Al Moutmir provides diversified outreach channels. The initiative offers interactive multimedia supports on social networks through a dedicated Facebook page, a YouTube channel, a call center and radio programs that broadcast in real-time “Sewlouna Njaouboukoum” sessions, during which experts answer farmers' questions. In addition, Al Moutmir YouTube channel broadcasts outreach videos animated by farmers who share their best agricultural practices.

Encourage Peer to Peer Communication

Encourage Peer to Peer Communication

Al Moutmir initiated with voluntary farmers a series of videos called "Min Ila Al Fallah". In each video, a farmer shares with his peers agricultural practices learned thanks to the support of Al Moutmir team.
These videos, being in Darija, Moroccan Arabic, and coming from the farmer, are a great success. They facilitate peer-to-peer learning and foster the adoption of best farming practices. Broadcasted on Al Moutmir YouTube channel and relayed on Facebook, these videos enlarge the scope of agricultural extension.

When OCP mobilizes its collaborators to serve rural communities

a4c

Al Moutmir is supported by volunteering OCP collaborators working within the Act4Community initiative. In 2016, OCP launched this citizens initiative to encourage volunteering among its collaborators to better serve communities. Several collaborators are daily mobilized alongside the Al Moumir team to better support farmers in different localities. Each volunteer provides support based on a scientific framework and the support of Al Moutmir team located in his/her province. In a short time, OCP collaborators have launched several initiatives: training sessions, field support, mechanization offers, monitoring and advice. Hence, the community acting for farmers keeps growing  and the interest in development and the transformation of agriculture is growing more and more. This shows everyone’s will to make themselves useful to the community and to help farmers, especially the small holders, to meet the challenges of the sector and to project themselves towards a better tomorrow.

Supporting the shift of the national consumption towards customized and adapted fertilizer

OCP and its ferlizer manufacturer-distributor partners continue to support the sector by supplying the national market with regional NPK fertilizers.
In fact, OCP supplies the market via its manufacturer-distributor partners within the framework of package contracts of phosphate fertilizers, in addition to potassium and nitrogen fertilizers. The objective is to provide the farmers with fertilizer formulas adapted to their crops and regions in the best conditions. OCP manufacturer-distributor partners, who have the necessary technological, equipment for mixing “Bulk-Blending”, produce these formulas. The latter are based on the recommendations of Morocco Soil Fertility Map.

11 formulas of regional NPK blend fertilizer are now available

The Smart Blender for a close and customized Blend NPK offer

In order to meet the objective of optimizing natural resources and the adequate use of N, P and K nutrients, Al Moutmir introduced Smart Blender technologies in 2018. This technology consists in manufacturing Blend NPK formulas for each agricultural plot based on its own soil testing results. The installation of Smart Blender production units in partnership with the fertilizer manufacturer, distributor and national aggregator partners has enabled the production of Blend NPK fertilizers close to farmers in different provinces.

Retailers program to better serve farmers

Retailers program to better serve farmers

The local retailer, a real influencer of farmers' practices, is a key link in the fertilizer distribution chain. Aware of this important role the fertilizer retailers play in the delivery of fertilizers to farmers and also in the dynamics of promoting best agricultural practices in rural areas, Al Moutmir has set up a dedicated program that aims at strengthening their capacity. It includes:

- the elaboration and the provision of didactic display materials adapted by region and by speculation;
- the equipment of sales points for a better service to farmers;
- the implementation of a continuous training and capacity building program dealing with various topics including the composition and methods of use of the final products as well as the good practices for the manipulation and storage of fertilizers in situ and other trainings related to the management of points of sales.

Slow release nitrogen fertilizer

Slow release nitrogen fertilizer

DURAMON26 is a slow release nitrogen fertilizer based on DURAMON technology developed by Fertinagro.
Produced in Morocco, DURAMON26 promotes, thanks to its innovative process, the valorization of soil nitrogen and fertilizer by crops for an optimal efficiency and a good profitability of nitrogen fertilization. DURAMON26 technology reduces the activity of the urease enzyme, slows the transformation of urea nitrogen into ammonia and increases the time of nitrogen availability.

The scientific ecosystem

The scientific ecosystem

Al Moutmir places the scientific approach at the heart of its strategy. It works closely with the scientific ecosystem in order to implement scientifically tested and proven solutions. Al Moutmir is based on the scientific framework developed as part of the Soil Fertility Map of Morocco project by the national scientific consortium composed of the National Institute of Agronomic Research (INRA), the Hassan II Agronomic and Veterinary Institute (IAV) and the National School of Agriculture of Meknes (ENA).
As a reminder, this scientific reference system was produced within the framework of a research and development partnership of reference between OCP and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests. The Soil Fertility Map of Morocco which provides the knowledge of the fertility of the cultivated soils of the Kingdom (more than 8.7 million hectares) is available to users free charge: www.fertimap.ma
