An agile system to reach farmers from remote areas
Al Moutmir Souks and Moussems sets out to meet farmers in the souks (rural markets) and moussems (rural festivals), crucial crossroads where farmers share their agricultural concerns. It seeks to support them before the launch of each crop cycle. Several mobile trucks visit the weekly souks as well as the most important Moussems in order to identify farmers' needs and assist them in their decision-making as far as the choice of inputs and agricultural practices are concerned.
Al Moutmir mobile program is a device that criss-cross Morocco and supports the daily work of agronomists. It includes extension workshops, individual feedback sessions on soil testing results, in addition to meetings with our fertilizer manufacturers, distributors and retailers, Smart Blender demonstrations and question/answer sessions animated by experts.
For an agriculture more resilient to climate change!
No-till farming or zero tillage is an agricultural production system that consists of sowing without prior tillage. One of the three fundamental pillars of conservation agriculture, no-till farming preserves the soil and its microbial life as well as water stocks. The Al Moutmir no-till program aims at accelerating the adoption of this practice nationwide as a key lever of the agriculture new agro-ecological transition model in our country. Al Moutmir's objective is to significantly support this momentum to increase the resilience of agriculture to climate change.
Al Moutmir offers a range of demonstration platforms in different provinces of the Kingdom and covering several crops (cereals & pulses, arboriculture, vegetables, etc). The demonstration platforms are a powerful outreach tool for demonstrating scientific recommendations and agricultural innovations.
Co-constructed and implemented in partnership with the agricultural ecosystem in particular the scientific ecosystem namely the National Institute of Agronomic Research (INRA), the Hassan II Agronomic and Veterinary Institute (IAV), the National School of Agriculture (ENA) and the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University of Benguerir. These platforms are installed in the fields of volunteer farmers and allow demonstrating the considerable impact of the adoption of the best agricultural practices on the yield and the quality of agricultural production, the income generated and on the balanced consumption of fertilizers.
Each platform relates to the application of the best inputs, agricultural operations & techniques, from tilling the soil to harvesting. This allows, as the crop cycle progresses, to compare between the impact of good practices versus the usual practices of the farmers. The objective is to create an emulation and induction effect carried by the farmers who hosted these demonstration platforms and who become real ambassadors of good practices and guarantee the continuity of the initiative.
These demonstration platforms benefit from close scientific monitoring provided by Al Moutmir agronomists and experts, mobilized from various national scientific institutions. An Integrated Crop Management Program (ICP) is set up for each platform and covers the different stages of the crop.
A 100% digital monitoring for the demonstration platforms:
In order to build on the feedback of the demonstration platforms and facilitate its sharing with the ecosystem, Al Moutmir team developed a digital application called Agritrial. This application allows the digitalization of the agronomic management of demonstration parcels and real-time feedback in addition to detailed information on the evolution of platforms (phenological stages, stress, size, photos & videos of plants, etc.). All this information is made available to the scientific, academic and economic ecosystem. It is also the subject of an annual gadering within the framework of the Al Moutmir Open Innovation Lab.
Aware that soil testing is the first step towards a balanced fertilization, UM6P mobilizes its human and technical resources to support farmers and enable them to carry out this diagnosis on scientific grounds. Mobile laboratories travel across Morocco and carry out free soil testing. Other tests are also carried out at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University of Benguerir and at the national laboratories.
Al Moutmir provides a multiservice offer to better support farmers
In partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests and through Al Moutmir initiative, the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University of Benguerir mobilizes its team in order to support farmers especially the small ones. It therefore continuously stimulates innovation with the different stakeholders of the agricultural sector to respond with agility to the challenges of agriculture and to help find new adapted and accessible solutions for all.
Launched in September 2018, Al Moutmir is a multiservice offer including innovative and customized solutions to better serve farmers and especially the small ones. This initiative focuses on promoting the best agricultural, technical and governance practices and in particular balanced fertilization as a real lever for improving productivity while preserving natural resources.
Al Moutmir includes best in class products and solutions, agricultural extension services (soil testing, training sessions, demonstration platforms, monitoring and support, etc.), user-friendly technological solutions as well as a capacity building program for farmers, rural women, cooperatives and young leaders. It aims at providing farmers with the tools they need to move from a subsistence to a profitable and a sustainable business. The scientific approach is at the heart of Al Moutmir offer to guarantee the sustainability of the initiative.
From September 2022, Al Moutmir is carried by UM6P in order to further anchor the scientific approach that is the essence of the initiative. The latter will be able to ensure the link between applied research and the agricultural ecosystem in order to contribute to the implementation of sustainable and inclusive agricultural development models.
We encourage the development of an economically viable and sustainable agriculture!

The farmer, as the key player of the agriculture transformation
Agricultural transformation cannot be achieved without the farmer, the real agent of change. For this reason, Al Moutmir initiative invests primarily in farmers. Al Moutmir is setting up a multi-target and customized capacity building program to enable farmers to easily adopt best agricultural practices. This program is implemented with and for the farmer. Several training sessions covering the agronomic fields, managerial capacity building and soft skills were provided in 2019 for different targets.
